KURAS – Concepts for urban rainwater management, drainage and sewage systems

In the field of urban wastewater and rainwater management in urban areas, concepts are needed which simultaneously provide disposal security and help solve environmental problems related to urban hydrology. The development of strategies and measures for adapting the corresponding urban infrastructures to climate change and other future changes is already well underway. For the implementation and operationalization of these strategies, further investigations regarding the effectiveness and optimization of concrete measures are lacking. These measures involve drainage plans and mandatory spatial, building and environmental planning, as well as the creation of incentive systems.

The integrated description of the effects of options for action and concrete measures on urban rainwater management, drainage and sewage systems is therefore being addressed by the KURAS project in a comprehensive and cross-scale manner.
